Gordon Brown recently visited St. Andrew’s Stadium at Birmingham City Football Club this month to promote the government’s new Backing Young Britain initiative that will create more opportunities for young people in the UK job market.
It’s great to see that despite such financially difficult times local businesses are pulling together to support the cause, including Bourneville-based Cadbury who is backing the campaign by offering a number of new apprenticeship schemes this year.
The government initiative aims to utilise the skills and experience of young people and ensure businesses and public and voluntary sectors work together in order to create jobs for those aged 16 to 24 years old who may be suffering from the repercussions of the credit crunch.
Grad Central is playing its part in boosting the jobs market by making a number of different roles for graduates readily available in the West Midlands and we work closely with employers of different sizes who are eager to take on young talent.
We have already had an excellent response from businesses who have taken on graduates by using our FREE recruitment service, as well as those young individuals signed up to our website, www.grad-central.co.uk, who have been successfully placed in a job relating to their degree skills and experience.
Gordon’s visit to Brum has given us all a bit of hope in the West Midlands and shown that the fresh perspectives, new skills and enthusiasm of young individuals like graduates is the way to kick start the job market again.
