If you’re a talented creative graduate considering a career in the creative industries of the West Midlands, the region offers you a rich source of work opportunity. The West Midlands Regional creative sector was put on the map as long ago as 1759 when Wedgewood was founded and the Potteries began to create some of the countries finest works of ceramic art. Today Birmingham is recognised as the second largest media centre in the country, with over 1,000 businesses employing more than 17,000 people.
The West Midlands embraces all aspects of the creative industries. Sectors span both new and traditional media, and the West Midlands is home to the major broadcasters Carlton and the BBC. Newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror also has a major presence in the area and there are a wide range of more traditional culture centres such as theatres and art galleries across the region.
The creative industries have proven to be a very important factor in the continued growth of the West Midlands.
