We are looking to recruit a Graduate Software Developer to join our team based in Birmingham, West Midlands on a comprehensive 18 month training programme.

Salary - £22 - 24k
As the Graduate Software Developer your key responsibilities will be:
* To actively participate in every aspect of the training programme and provide feedback on progress against learning objectives.
* To undertake a series of placements across a range of sites
* To undertake a variety of roles as part of the hands-on training element, including those within both the engineering and operational functions.
* To actively seek out new learning opportunities during the course of the programme and to also undertake whatever supplementary training or qualifications are required,
* To complete reports and assignments to a high standard and submit these in accordance with strict deadlines.
* To provide incisive and critical analysis of all areas of the business in which time is spent during the training programme.
* To undertake specific projects as required, including conducting research, identifying business opportunities and making recommendations for improvement.
* To prepare and deliver presentations on a range of business issues.
* To take personal ownership of the training programme and gain maximum benefit from it by making contacts, seeking out new information and working with a designated senior mentor.
Application Development Role:
The focus of the team is SOFWARE DELIVERY, building quality solutions from conceptions through to implementation.
The team is made up of 5 sub-teams:
* Business Analysis - analysts responsible for gathering requirements through knowledge elicitation
* Development (Core) - developers responsible for the development of solutions for the back end core system
* Development (Operational) - developers responsible for the development of solutions for the depot and hub operation a nd hand held units
* Development (Web) - developers responsible for the development of solutions for the front end web sites
* Testing - Quality assurance analyst responsible for ensuring the solutions developed are of the highest quality
All roles involve regular contact and liaison with all levels within IT, the business, customers and suppliers.
Each team have personnel from a Junior to Senior level in addition to the Team Manager. Technical skills and expertise are paramount although knowledge and experience of processes, tools and people are also essential.
The ideal candidate will be seeking a career in an IT development role, in any of the teams described above and eventually progressing to either a senior analyst/developer (typically with no management responsibility) or a solutions manager (responsible for managing development staff).
The Training programme will include time spent in all areas of the business in order that the individual gains a thorough understanding of the business and the part IT plays. Larger periods of time will be spent in all areas of IT.
Candidates must have a minimum of a 2:1 degree in an IT or Business related subject, 3 A-levels grades A-C and 5 GCSE's grades A-C.
