IT Strategist required to work in Central London on a 6 month contract initially.
The IT Strategist will ensure the optimum use of information technology and strategic alignment with business objectives by being responsible for creating, managing and maintaining the client's strategic plans for IT.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
* Create and maintain, under the guidance of IT Strategy Manager, a strategic framework for the use of information technology by the client.
* Manage the flow of new, unplanned investment projects, accommodating their impact on the strategy framework or challenging their right to supplant projects, as appropriate.
* Investigate and assure the alignment of IT investment plans with the client;s strategic objectives and meet the criteria of the client's business planning process.
* Identify any alternative means of delivering business requirements via scope changes to other projects, to ensure IT's contribution to the client's business objectives is maximised.
* Champion the use of IT services as a strategic tool, not as a tactical response
* Engage with IT departments to ensure delivery of business plans.
Skills and experience required for the role include:
* Demonstrable experience of meeting strategic business objectives through the application of information management solutions.
* Demonstrable experience of managing business or technology initiatives to produce information technology strategies.
* Ability to make the case for strategically focused IT investments to senior business leaders and technology implementers.
* Extensive experience of working in planning or strategy roles at a senior level, which should include:
- Business analysis, problem solving and skills and prioritisation of complex business requirements
- Leading small teams
- Exposure to a recognised programme and project management methodology.
* Understanding of transportation and government sectors.
* Proven experience of managing complex customer and supplier relationships and expectations.
* Good leadership and performance management experience.
* Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
* Effective oral and written communication skills at a business and technical level.
