Role summary:
The role of Junior iPhone Developer is to work on a number of app development projects for a variety of clients. They will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery according to the agreed project specification. The role includes project testing and providing user support. Training, mentoring and supervision will be provided.

Key duties and responsibilities:
Development
- Developing iPhone apps in Objective-C with the support of the Managing Director
- Developing usable application interfaces and testing these with users
- Developing for other platforms in Java / HTML as required
Project testing
- Involvement in hands-on project testing
Project delivery
- Ensuring that the technical delivery of projects is completed on time, on budget and to a high quality
- Keeping the Managing Director informed of project status and progress
General
- Working towards continuous improvement and focussing on efficient processes and procedures
- Actively seeking and communicating ways to improve project delivery
User support
- Providing second-line user support by email for client projects as require
Experience and qualifications required:
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level. They may have an interest in iPhone application development (possibly having covered it as part of their degree or having developed their own apps), or may have a number of years of commercial software development experience and are looking to retrain in mobile development.
Experience of the following is desirable -
- iPhone development
- Experience with the iPhone platform
- Xcode (from use on iPhone or Apple Mac related development work)
- Objective-C (including ability to optimise coding to address challenges such as memory management issues)
- Cocoa Touch
- Object Oriented Design (OOD) and application architecture
- Knowledge of Apple's "Human Interface Guidelines" for iPhone apps
- Code optimisation and debugging skills
- Software version control systems (SVN)
- Design and Photoshop skills
- SQL
- OpenGL ES
- Core Animation
- Android and J2ME development
- XHTML, CSS, JavaScript
- XML / XPath / xQuery
Other:
This role is subject to a three-month probationary period.
