This is an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to join a dynamic and innovative technology provider based in Birmingham. They are looking for a Software Engineer to help create and maintain complex web based software to enhance their core web service suite.

Salary: 35-43K
The successful candidate will need to have the confidence to easily switch between technologies and demonstrate a strong understanding of a range of programming languages as well as feeling comfortable being more than a problem solver.
You will have the following;
* Strong Java/J2EE skills.
* The ability to take a flexible and pragmatic approach to language and tool selection, with a preference to open source.
* A commitment to test-driven development automated testing, continuous interrogation and disciplined version control.
* The ability to implement and consume web services and can explain where SOAP and REST are best suited and why.
* A good understanding of relational and non-relational databases e.g. SQL and SPARQL and APIs e.g. JDBC, ODBC.
* Experience of development across multiple platforms such as Linux, Windows and Solaris.
* Wide experience using a variety of programming languages. A good mix of statically typed (Java, C, C++) and dynamic e.g. PHP, Perl, Ruby languages.
* Familiarity with web application servers such as Tomcat and Jetty.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or hold an equivalent level qualification related to IT.
