TECHNICAL MANAGER - PRODUCTION MANAGER - TOOLING DEPARTMENT MANAGER

A combination of effective man-management skills along with technical expertise while utilising the available resources efficiently and will be required to deliver to customer demand on a right first time basis. The successful candidate will be committed to working with the Board of Directors to ensure that all people and change management initiatives are effectively implemented, managed and reviewed in a timely and consistent manner.

Job Purpose:
Responsible for coordinating all resources within the technical services departments to ensure quality, on time and accurate outputs are achieved, to the required quantity, at the lowest possible cost, in a manner in keeping with the company's Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a Toolroom and CAD department of approximately 15 people
- Development of a multi-skilled team, which provides the operation with a flexible and motivated workforce
- Ensure that health, safety standards and changes
- Ensure that the quality systems and operating procedures are clearly defined and followed
- Help define the main (KPIs) to ensure achievement of productivity targets
- Ensure resources are manned appropriately during each shift
- Re-deploy labour in the event of absence, machine breakdown and shortage of work.
- Carry out effective communication relating to organisation and operational information.
- Ensure good housekeeping and safety working Practices are adhered to using 5S.
- Carry out reporting and paperwork as required e.g. Quality concerns, T-card system, daily audits etc.
- Daily operational meetings and provide detailed production target information.
- Assist the project team to ensure that any new projects/products are successfully launched
- Supervise an effective working relationship with tool room suppliers and subcontractors
- Carry out annual appraisals. Define and monitor objectives for personnel within the department.
- Conduct disciplinary and grievance hearings as necessary.
- Leading the drive for Change Management and Lean Techniques through all areas of the business
- Achieving set targets for New Tooling business
- The maintenance and improvement of Technical documentation and processes;
- The delivery of world class tools to provide quality products to customer requirements, within budget and time
constraints.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Experience of complex, precision, carbide progression tools and associated components
- Decisive leadership skills with demonstrable technical experience
- Lean manufacturing and Continuous improvement experience

- Ability to effectively communicate at any level - an astute influence and negotiator.
- A team player with astute mentoring skills.
- Customer and commercial awareness.
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to identify appropriate methods
- Budgetary and purchasing experience.

Preferred:
- Member of appropriate professional body
- Knowledge of relevant presses and equipment
- Management team experience.
- Appropriate 3D CAD & CAM experience

Salary: Excellent Basic Salary & Benefits Package
