Spurring students on this spring to find perfect job!

27 May 09 - 12:00AM  | Graduate
With over 36,000 students set to graduate from universities across the West Midlands region this summer, a specialist graduate recruitment service is encouraging this year’s graduates to get organised this Easter holiday and start hunting for graduate jobs!

Grad Central, which is funded by Advantage West Midlands (AWM), is advising students to spring clean their CVs and start applying for potential jobs throughout the holidays, giving them a better chance of securing a job once they have graduated.

Lucy Cheatham, Project Director at Grad Central, explained: “For many students it’s hard to see past final year exams and dissertation deadlines, which is why they may struggle to find a job in the summer once all their work is completed.

“With thousands of students graduating this summer and the job market becoming more and more competitive, my advice for any student in their final year is to start looking now!”

Helping students to make the job-hunting process easier, Grad Central’s specialist recruitment service has been launched in the West Midlands, matchmaking graduates and businesses in Staffordshire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire, Coventry & Warwickshire, Shropshire, Birmingham and the Black Country. AWM has already set out to place thousands of graduates within the regions’ private companies over the next four years. Grad Central has been set up to offer the region the best recruitment service combining all of the latest web-based recruitment technology with professional and experienced graduate recruitment consultants on hand to guide graduates successfully through their job hunting.

Lucy added: “We hope these target figures will give graduates a reason to start applying for jobs, and with our service available online at www.grad-central.co.uk, it is easy and quick for students to register their details. The level of interest we’re getting from local businesses eager to recruit new graduate level talent into their businesses should give final year students the confidence that soon enough, they’ll have the job offers flooding in faster than they can throw their graduation caps up in the air!”
