HomeServe, the UK’s home repair and maintenance experts, is recognising the value that graduates can bring to its business after introducing its first Marketing Graduate Scheme for seven years.

The company, with the help of graduate recruitment specialists Grad Central, has taken on Suzi Cordon in the role of Assistant Marketing Manager to support the growth of its utilities business.

Suzi, who lives in Uttoxeter and recently completed her degree in Management and Strategy at Aston University, beat hundreds of other applicants to be selected as one of four new graduates starting in HomeServe’s marketing team.

Commented Suzi: “After completing my studies this year, I was well aware of how challenging and competitive it would be to find work, especially a career job.

“As a homeowner, locality was essential.  However, after signing up to a number of recruitment agencies and Internet sites, it seemed the majority of jobs being advertised would require relocation, in particular down south.

“A friend recommended Grad Central as it is dedicated purely to placing graduates in the West Midlands.  The level of service I received from the team was excellent, supporting me every step of the way to help to gain this position in such a market leading company.”

Grad Central is a completely unique graduate recruitment service that matches business needs to graduate talent completely free of charge. This means companies do not have to pay high recruitment costs that other agencies charge to take on the graduate skills they need to help their business grow. The recruitment specialist helps graduates and businesses right through the process, with its expert consultants on-hand every step of the way to make recruiting as smooth as possible.

As part of HomeServe’s Marketing Graduate Scheme, Suzi’s responsibilities include working with the company’s utility partners to drive growth, to implement key test initiatives to prove out new products and marketing channels and ensure financial and regulatory objectives are met.  To complement this, HomeServe provide extensive training specific to her role and for personal development, along with funding her Distance Learning IDM Direct and Interactive Marketing Diploma.

Continued Suzi: “It is an extremely exciting role.  The training means everyday is a learning experience, allowing me to implement what I have learnt at university into a corporate environment and enabling me to progress on a daily basis.   At the end of my first year, I will also have to complete a group project and present this to the CEO and Directors, something not many graduates have the opportunity to do in such a short space of time.”
